Penggunaan Model Pembelajaran Think Pair Square (TPSq) dengan Media Pembelajaran Infografis untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis pada Mata Pelajaran Pendidikan Pancasila Kelas VII A SMP Negeri 3 Tana Tidung

Abstract

The present research is intended to determine the effectiveness of the Think Pair Square (TPSq) learning model with infographic media in enhancing students' critical thinking abilities within Pancasila Education. This study was carried out as a Classroom Action Research (CAR) using a Kemmis and McTaggart framework consisting of two cycles. The subjects of this study consisted of 25 students from class VII A of SMP Negeri 3 Tana Tidung. The techniques for collecting data included tests, classroom observation, questionnaires, as well as documentation. The obtained data were processed through descriptive analysis and N-Gain in order to measure the enhancement of critical thinking abilities. The findings showed that student learning engagement increased starting at 38% (before the action) up to 51% (Cycle I), then reached 87% (Cycle II) in the very good category. Students' critical thinking skills also improved significantly, with the average score increasing from 51 (pre-action) to 53 (Cycle I), ultimately reaching 80 (Cycle II), which falls within the good category. The computed N-Gain value was 0.59, classified as medium improvement. Student response to the learning was very positive at 86.4%. Applying the Think Pair Square model combined with infographic media created more active, collaborative, and student-centered learning. The combination of visual media and structured cooperative learning stages (think, pair, square) provided space for learners to build their critical thinking abilities through independent analysis as well as collaborative discussion. It is concluded that the Think Pair Square learning model with infographic media can be considered effective for enhancing critical thinking abilities in Pancasila Education.
